Everyone’s Invited to tour the “Not So Big” House!!

Where: 138 School Street, Libertyville, Illinois

When: Tuesday April 24th

Time: 11:45 a.m.

The Residential Design Studio class will be touring the “Not So Big” showhouse in Libertyville, Illinois designed by noted architect and best-selling author Sarah Susanka and everyone’s invited to join us. We will also tour the neighborhood school building that is being converted into loft residences. *check out a previous post for more information on the “Not So Big” house*

IT’S OKAY TO BRING A FRIEND TOO!

This house is a fabulous example of how good space planning can make the most of available square footage. We’ll also see interesting architectural details and lighting design. It was built with sustainable materials and has many energy efficient features. It’s being called “the house of the future”, so don’t miss the chance to see it firsthand.

There is no charge for the event, other than getting yourself to the showhouse. The class will be carpooling, and everyone else is responsible for arranging their own transporation. We will gather outside the showhouse at 11:45 (don’t be late). If you are planning on joining us, please send me an email at kielbj@cod.edu by April 22nd so I can let our tour leader know how many of us to expect.

Mapquest estimates that it will take approximately an hour to get from COD to the showhouse via I-294. School Street is adjacent to Libertyville’s “Main Street”, which is along Milwaukee Avenue. Allow plenty of time, and if you arrive early, check out the shops or restaurants along Main Street. Here’s a map of the area:
