The contest has two categories: residential design and commercial design. The top winner from each category will receive a $2,500 cash prize. Second-place winners will win a $1,000 cash prize, and third-place winners will win a $500 cash prize.

The two first-place winners will also have their work featured in the 2013 edition of STIR magazine. All winners will be featured on our Sherwin-Williams Facebook page, in a future issue of Sherwin-Williams® STIR® eExtra email newsletter and in our STIR tablet edition.

Who may enter: Students may enter as individuals or as a design team. With a team entry, one student must be designated as the team contact.

Contest categories: Residential design and commercial design. You can submit designs for a single room or an entire structure. Examples of commercial projects include (but are not limited to) a retail space, a health care facility, a hotel, a spa or a restaurant.

Requirements: Contest is open to projects of all kinds, though each entry must use a minimum of three Sherwin-Williams colors (of the student’s choice). Only projects using Sherwin-Williams colors will qualify.

(Jane note: The great thing about this competition is that you can enter any project that you have already completed – just pick three paint colors from Sherwin-Williams to include on one of the three uploaded images; complete a written explanation of your project; submit)

Prizes: There are cash prizes for first, second and third place in each category. First-prize winners will also be featured in STIR magazine — and all winners will be featured in our STIR eExtra email newsletter and on our Sherwin-Williams for Designers & Architects Facebook page.

Judge: Jackie Jordan, director of color marketing, Sherwin-Williams

Timing: Contest is open for entries March 1–April 15, 2013
