Sherwin Williams is holding STIR, its annual student design challenge, for both residential and commercial design.

Requirements: Designs may be of an entire structure or a single room and must include a minimum of 3 Sherwin Williams colors. Only projects using Sherwin Williams colors will qualify. Students may enter either as an individual or as a team with one team member as the primary contact. Contestants must submit up to three CAD or other illustrated files by loading them directly to the Sherwin Williams student design site.

A note from Jane: The great thing about this competition is that you can enter any project that you have already completed – just pick three paint colors from Sherwin-Williams to include on one of the three uploaded images; complete a written explanation of your project; submit!

Prizes: The top winner from each category will receive a $2,500 cash prize. Second-place winners will win a $1,000 cash prize, and third-place winners will win a $500 cash prize. In addition, the two first-place winners will also have their work featured in the 2014 edition of STIR magazine. What a great addition to your resume! All winners will be featured on the Sherwin-Williams for Design Pros Facebook page.

Judges: Jackie Jordan, director of color marketing, Residential entries: Ernesto Garcia, award-winning designer of Ernesto Garcia Interior Design, . Commercial entries: Tamara Bopp, director of interior design at Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford.

When: Contest entries will be received March 1 –April 15
