Scholarship Opportunities!

Scholarships have started opening up everywhere for the 2018-2019 school year and it is never to early to start applying!

Firstly, the College of DuPage has lots of wonderful in-house scholarship opportunities, that many students don’t know about, and not all of them need you to fill out a FAFSA form to qualify. To get a general overview of of the college’s scholarship opportunities, click here.

The college also uses an easy-to-use system for matching students to the scholarships. It works a lot like the Common Application for colleges. You can find that system here, and you log in with your myaccess/blackboard/email log in.

Another great source of scholarships is from the professional organizations for the Interior Design Community. IIDA, ASID, and NEWH all have their own scholarships that they give to Interior Design students on a regular basis. All of these and the NKBA have student competitions that give money and scholarships to the winners.

Good luck to all that apply!

NKBA Student Chapter Attends Vendor Night at Daltile

COD students at Vendor Night 3-24-15

About 20 COD Kitchen & Bath students, faculty, and alums joined the Chicago-Midwest Chapter for Vendor Night at the Daltile showroom on Tuesday, March 24th. Everyone had a great time meeting the vendors and learning about their products. It was also a wonderful opportunity to meet and network with professional chapter members.

Three students even took home attendance prizes from the drawing held at the end of the evening. Those of us who were still hanging around, enjoying the last of the evening, posed for a group photo.

Plans for students to attend the September chapter event were discussed with  President, Terry McKinney. Many of the vendors and professionals were also inquiring about students for design and intern positions in their firms.

Anyone interested in becoming involved with the NKBA Student Chapter should contact Jane or one of the student officers. We will be wrapping up the year with a pizza party to celebrate the end of a successful year and to get plans in place for a strong kick-off in the fall with a membership drive and lots of events & activities.
