Sarah Jacquelyn Interiors is seeking a part-time interior design intern to assist the design team. We are a full-service residential-focused interior design firm that believes that design can impact lives and promote well-being within the home. This immersive internship experience provides not just a detailed look into the interior design world, but also mentorship as you pursue your journey of becoming a Registered Interior Designer.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Google Drive, and Gmail
  • Enrolled in an interior design or interior architecture degree program preferred
  • Program knowledge is a plus, but not required: AutoCAD, Studio Designer, SketchUP, and Photoshop

Responsibilities

  • Assist the design team with multiple residential design projects
  • Manage sample library and office organization
  • Attend site visits with the design team
  • Measure residential homes with the design team
  • Collaborate with the design team on installations and photoshoots
  • Vendor communications – phone, email, and in person
  • Participate in client and office design meetings
  • Return and retrieve samples from the Merchandise Mart and other showrooms
  • Source products from websites and in-person showrooms
  • Create mood boards for design presentations
  • Style and create images for social media
  • 2-3 Days per week in the office

*Candidates must be vaccinated prior to start date. This position is in person at our office near Foster & Cicero.

Full Time Position Opportunity – Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurants: Assistant Designer

About

The Assistant Designer supports the Cooper’s Hawk Design team in all phases of the development process including site coordination, design development, permitting, and construction administration. This role protects and maintains the CHWR design standards, by clearly documenting global changes to the prototype and communicating them to internal and external teams. The right individual for this position will be highly collaborative, have an eagerness to learn and is able to work well with internal and external design teams in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in weekly project and landlord coordination meetings with General Contractors and Architectural team. Take detailed notes to support clear communication of next steps and follow ups for the team
  • Review for consistency and completeness of project deliverables outlined by the Senior Design Manager
  • Manages design standards for KEC and building details and materials in SiteFolio
  • Participate in reviewing floorplans, renderings, and creating presentation decks
  • Confirming specifications for multiple owner-furnished items (Furniture, Millwork, Artwork, Flooring, Signage, Kitchen Equipment). Works cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure timely procurement of all OFI installations for new and existing restaurants
  • Maintains physical design library at the Restaurant Support Center
  • Assist real estate team with site layouts and elevations as needed
  • Support Restaurant Support Center design needs- furniture specifications and preliminary floor plan updates
  • Manages select OFI vendor relationships & seeks new relationships to ensure best service and pricing
  • Upkeep the Design standards for all Cooper’s Hawk Brands – create and issue DesigNotes to communicate updates to those standards in a consistent manner
  • Support the facilities team on capital projects and ensure quality is maintained in the design deliverables on Service Channel
  • Manage the sign vendor relationship for each project – review shop drawings in a timely manner to assure signage standards are met
  • Support Millwork shop drawing reviews

Skills & Other Requirements

  • Must represent Cooper’s Hawk values
  • Ability to read and comprehend architectural plans
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Proficiency in AutoDesk programs AutoCAD (required) Revit (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam software
  • Ability to produce photo quality renderings
  • Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Suite (InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Project Management Software (SiteFolio or equivalent)

Work Experience & Key Competencies

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design or related field
  • 2-3 years of design experience, experience in the restaurant industry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong collaborator
  • Ability to present design concepts concisely
  • Strong team player that can manage multiple priorities and thrives under pressure

Physical Job Functions

  • Ability to manage themselves in a hybrid work environment (50/50 work from home vs. office)
  • Flexibility to travel up to 25% of the time to new and existing restaurants
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
  • Flexible hours may be required to support restaurant & facilities teams and meet project deadlines
